Innovatón 2014: A Day of Education Design Challenges at Innovatón
100 teachers took part in Innovatón during the 1st International Congress on Educational Innovation, which focused on applying the design thinking methodology.
For this activity, the participants were helped during the education design process by Smart Technologies, a leading company in this sector. Each design process began with a specific problem that needed to be solved.
Paulino Bernot, Vice-President for High Schools at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, congratulated the participants on their dedication to innovation. “Our institutional focus lies in creating leaders with entrepreneurial spirt and who are humanistic in their outlook (…) this vision also includes all of our employees and participants from other universities and countries. I have always felt that all universities are good; they all have their attributes, peculiarities and educational philosophy, but what we all have in common is what we have just experienced here.”
The participants were divided into 10 teams, of which three winning teams were selected through peer evaluation. The winners were presented with tools to help them in their work on educational innovation.
“Here is where inspiring teachers are created and will continue to be created. This forum is extremely important; I saw for myself inspiring teachers, the light in their eyes, their enthusiasm, their contributions, their desire, impetus and firm, authentic and genuine conviction to contribute something better and something different; to be competitive is to do something better and something different to the next person, which is a difficult thing to copy,” added Bernot.
