Code of Ethics

The IFE Conference has the following guidelines that authors must comply with in order for their contributions to be accepted for publication at the conference. These guidelines are based on those established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Singapore Declaration on Research Integrity (https://www.wcrif.org/guidance/singapore-statement).

These guidelines extend to all sponsored events and related services (webinars, chats, etc.) that are derived from the IFE CONFERENCE.

Research Integrity

The IFE Conference promotes ethical conduct and good practices for conducting research that leads to scientific results eligible for publication and, consequently, to contribute to the disciplinary area of Educational Innovation in a responsible manner. In this regard, it is important that the authors guarantee that the research was conducted under the principles of honesty and responsibility, with rigor and with absolute clarity and coherence, in which the data reflect the scientific method and in direct agreement with the objectives of the research. Similarly, evaluators and editors are required to maintain an ethical professional posture, adhering to the principles of honesty, inclusiveness, rigor and critical judgment. In this sense, researchers are urged to avoid:

Duplicity and fragmentation of published results
Redundant and simultaneous publication
Fraud or scientific plagiarism
Exclude all participants who were responsible for the scientific contribution
Exercising power and manipulation for the adequacy of results

Co-authorship responsibility

An author of a contribution is considered an author, provided that the following requirements are met:

Having direct participation in the conception and realization of the research result, including methods and processes.
To have direct participation in the writing, revision and final proof for publication approved by the IFE Conference team, including the quality and updating of the bibliographic body and citations of the contribution.
To foster an environment that recognizes the inherent value of each individual, promoting mutual respect, and providing a space free from harassment in all its forms.

In the case of personnel who do not meet the above requirements and who provided criteria or support in the realization of the scientific contribution presented, they should be considered in the Acknowledgements section. If any author is included as a contributor without complying with these requirements or otherwise; if any author who does comply with the requirements is not present in the contribution, it will be considered an ethical violation and is the responsibility of the authors.

The IFE Conference team makes available the CRediT classifications (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) for authors to identify the role(s) involved in researching and obtaining a scientific contribution for publication.

Contributions of Authors (CRediT)

Conceptualization	Ideas; formulation or evolution of overarching research goals and aims.
Data curation	Management activities to annotate (produce metadata), scrub data and maintain research data (including software code, where it is necessary for interpreting the data itself) for initial use and later re-use.
Formal analysis	Application of statistical, mathematical, computational, or other formal techniques to analyze or synthesize study data.
Funding acquisition	Acquisition of the financial support for the project leading to this publication.
Investigation	Conducting a research and investigation process, specifically performing the experiments, or data/evidence collection.
Methodology	Development or design of methodology; creation of models.
Project administration	Management and coordination responsibility for the research activity planning and execution.
Resources	Provision of study materials, reagents, materials, patients, laboratory samples, animals, instrumentation, computing resources, or other analysis tools.
Software	Algorithm development, software, platform, activities directly related to programming.
Supervision	Oversight and leadership responsibility for the research activity planning and execution, including mentorship external to the core team.
Validation	Participation in verifying the activities implicit in the research, with the aim of determining the reproducibility of the results and experiments.
Visualization	Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, specifically visualization/data presentation.
Writing original-draft	Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work, specifically writing the initial draft (including substantive translation).
Writing – review & editing	Preparation, creation and/or presentation of the published work by those from the original research group, specifically critical review, commentary or revision – including pre- or post-publication stages.

Correction and retraction

The editorial team of the IFE Conference has the responsibility to be transparent with the scientific community to which it is addressed and to make available the update of each version of the published contribution, as well as to ensure the integrity of the research.

Corrections and retractions are made after the contribution is published. This request will be made by the authors after communication with the editor; through the e-mail: editor@ifeconference.tec.mx, by means of a letter in which the reasons for this action are argued. The request must include the supporting documents that replace the published text, as well as the consent and signature of all co-authors of the contribution to proceed with the analysis of the request for correction or retraction.

Analysis and response

The request will be evaluated by the editorial team with the participation of two academic reviewers who can validate the changes proposed by the authors. Authors will be notified via e-mail within 10 working days of the request for correction or retraction. The options available to the IFE Conference for the correction or retraction action are:

Errata: applies to the case in which the integrity of the research in the contribution was not affected; however, it was omitted or there is an error on the part of the journal related to typographical errors or metadata about the authors, such as: full name, affiliation, mail. Errata are reported as a note in the original text of the contribution, this note referring to the errata document through a link.
Retraction:
- Significant errors have been detected by the authors or members of the editorial team that invalidate the conclusions or results described in the contribution.
- Plagiarism or scientific fraud behaviors are identified.
- False or incomplete co-authorship is detected.
- There are conflicts of interest in the academic review process.
- There is non-reproducibility or inconsistencies in the methodologies, processes or methods described in the contribution.

The retraction implies withdrawing the original contribution and publishing an editorial note in which reference is made to the original contribution and the reasons for which it has been withdrawn. The published retraction will be signed by the editor of the publication.

Reproducibility of data

The data and methodological processes implicit in the scientific contributions must guarantee their authenticity and coherence with the research objectives. Likewise, the data must be available to be shared with the editorial team and the scientific community, except for data referring to personal names or research carried out under the principle of anonymity or confidentiality. In the latter case, the authors must submit, at the time of submitting the contribution, an attachment stating the reasons why the data cannot be shared.

Conflicts of Interest

IFE Conference recognizes that a conflict of interest exists when the research, editorial decision or academic evaluation has been affected by personal, homophobic, religious, political, racial, financial-economic, cultural or other motives that do not adhere to professional ethics in terms of academic integrity.

To avoid conflict of interest situations, the editorial team enforces the following guidelines:

Las Authors should state in the Acknowledgements section the name of the institution/company, project (include code) and country that financed or provided resources or infrastructure to the research. Authors should not publish research that involves compromised information with third parties without their authorization, nor information related to innovation protection or over which there is any legal litigation. Likewise, they should not promote commercial brands, services or products due to obvious financial, economic or personal interests. Authors who find themselves in any of the situations described above regarding conflict of interest must immediately notify the editor of the publication at editor@ifeconference.tec.mx.Action in case of conflict of interest for authors: if the editorial team detects any situation of conflict of interest, the authors of the contribution will be penalized with the non-submission of contributions for a period of 2 years.
Editors should proceed without personal or professional favoritism towards authors or members of the scientific committee. It is their duty to be impartial and to set an example in compliance with the Code of Ethics of this publication. In case the editors have family or personal relationships or are in any situation of conflict of interest, they must notify the Editor of the publication and refrain from continuing with the editorial process and management related to the committed contribution. The Editor will reassign the process to another editor.Action in case of conflict of interest for editors: in case the Director of the publication detects any situation of conflict of interest, the editors will be separated from their function for a minimum term of 3 years.
Academic reviewers in a conflict of interest situation must notify the Editor-in-Chief and reject the academic evaluation process related to the assigned contribution. The Senior Editor will reassign the academic evaluation process to another expert reviewer who does not present a conflict of interest.Action in case of conflict of interest for reviewers: if the editorial team detects any situation of conflict of interest, the reviewers will not be allowed to be members of the scientific committee for a minimum period of 3 years.

Ethical supervision

The members of the editorial team assume that the authors, editors and reviewers who participate in any process involved in the application, management, evaluation and decision related to the publication of a contribution, accept the Code of Ethics of this publication, also ensuring that the guidelines and policies for the writing, management and evaluation of the publication or rejection of a scientific contribution in the IFE Conference have been complied with.

The editorial team of this publication is responsible for monitoring compliance with the Code of Ethics, as well as the guidelines and policies of this publication. In the event that any malpractice is detected, an analysis will be convened by the main editor and with the consent of the Director of the publication, with the participation of the members of the editorial committee and the members of the ethics committee of the publishing institution, forming an extraordinary working group to perform the evaluation. The guidelines established in COPE will be the guide to carry out the corresponding analysis, especially the records and data involved in the analysis will be preserved. In this sense, disrespectful behavior or accusations will be avoided, giving the party that has incurred in the malpractice the opportunity to expose the causes that have led to this.

Classifications of ethical malpractice: it is considered a serious malpractice when plagiarism, scientific fraud or failure to follow the recommendation in the face of a conflict of interest. It is considered a minor malpractice when some of the guidelines of the Code of Ethics that do not involve plagiarism, scientific fraud or recommendation in the face of conflict of interest have not been omitted.

Actions in case of detected malpractice: if it is determined by the extraordinary group that the misconduct is not serious and the contribution was published, then an Errata is made. If the fault is not serious and the contribution has not been published, the authors will be asked to correct the contribution with the pertinent information. If the fault is serious and the contribution has been published, the contribution will be retracted; if the contribution is serious and has not been published, it will be immediately rejected. Communication with those involved in the malpractice will be made by the main Editor via e-mail.

Intellectual Property

At IFE Conference we respect the academic integrity of registered scientific research. We recognize the intellectual property rights that each author has over his or her work and we adhere to the legal framework of the Federal Copyright Law, the Industrial Property Law and the provisions of Article 27 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Assignment of authors’ rights

Authors must cede the economic rights over the publication, dissemination and distribution of the contribution in any format to the IFE Conference.

Permission to reproduce

Authors may share the contribution on personal sites, academic networks, social networks, open data repositories, thematic and institutional repositories, conferences or as support for teaching and academic and research activity; however, they are obliged to share the published version, acknowledge, reference and indicate that the original version was published in the IFE Conference including the DOI and the title of the primary source of publication. Failure to comply with the reproduction permission granted by the IFE Conference will initiate an investigation process that may result in legal consequences, since the IFE Conference has the proprietary right to the contribution.

Pre-print

The IFE Conference allows authors to share the scientific contribution prior to acceptance and final publication on the author’s personal site, repositories and academic networks; however, it must be acknowledged and indicated that this contribution has been registered and is in the process of academic evaluation by the IFE Conference team. In case of rejection of the contribution, the authors remain with absolute autonomy over the patrimonial rights of their contribution.

Post-print

Once the contribution is published and with the transfer of the economic rights to the IFE Conference, the authors must comply with the Reproduction Permissions presented in this section.

The contents of this publication use the Creative Commons Attribution Noncommercial 4.0 International License.

Inclusivity

The IFE Conference disapproves of any discriminatory behavior, form of writing and communication by authors, editors, reviewers or any member of the IFE Conference team. In this sense, it defends equity and equal opportunities for members of the scientific community who conduct research related to Educational Innovation, with rigor, academic integrity and consistent with the Code of Ethics and policies of the IFE Conference to postulate their scientific results.

Disclaimer

The IFE Conference describes in detail, through its Code of Ethics, the guidelines to be followed by the community of authors, editors, readers and reviewers participating in the IFE Conference, as well as the actions to be taken in case of any conflict of interest.

In this regard, the IFE Conference disclaims any liability related to non-compliance with the guidelines established in the Code of Ethics and will act in strict accordance with the provisions of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the Singapore Declaration on Research Integrity (https://www.wcrif.org/guidance/singapore-statement).
