Alicia Jiménez

Director of Programs Scretariat of the International Earth Charter and TC Center for Education for Sustainable Development at UPAZ

Alicia Jiménez Elizondo is the Program Director of the Earth Charter International (ECI) Secretariat. She is a biologist from the Universidad de Costa Rica, with a Masters in Resource Development from Michigan State University in the United States and a PhD in Education from Universidad La Salle, Costa Rica.

Since 1998 she has been working in the field of conservation and sustainable development. She worked at the IUCN Mesoamerica Regional Office and at the Universidad Nacional of Costa Rica, and has participated as a visiting professor at the Universidad para la Paz. In 2006, she joined ECI, where she oversees the promotion of the Earth Charter especially in Latin America, Africa and the Middle East and Asia Pacific. In addition, she participates in and coordinates Secretariat projects on education for sustainable development, facilitating courses and workshops.
