Daniel Gruber is an Assistant Professor at the Medill School of Journalism, Media, Integrated Marketing Communications. He is also an Assistant Professor of Management & Organizations in the Kellogg School of Management (Courtesy). Before joining the Northwestern faculty in 2009, Dan completed his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business.
Dan’s research contributions are at the intersection of organization theory and the areas of academic excellence across the Medill School. He advances organization theory in the context of journalism, media, and integrated marketing communications. Within the organization theory literature, Dan offers a unique perspective by studying news organizations, the media industry, and integrated marketing communications to conduct research on important topics such as sensemaking, disintermediation, and managing the unexpected.
