Kristina Reiss

Professor Emeritus Technical University of Munich

    Kristina Reiss studied Mathematics at the University of Heidelberg (Germany) and received her PhD in Mathematics from the same university. She later became involved in the training of Mathematics’ teachers and shifted her research focus to Mathematics Education. She worked at several universities in Germany as a professor of Mathematics Education. She has been a member of the Technical University of Munich since 2009. Kristina Reiss was dean of the TUM School of Education, the school for teacher training in secondary schools, until 2021. She was also director of the PISA Program in Germany and led these tests. Her main research interest is the development of competencies in STEM subjects from an interdisciplinary perspective. Currently, her work focuses on research on how to properly coordinate distance and in-person learning in mathematics, especially in teacher training. In addition, she is the ombudsperson for good scientific practices at TUM.
